Payment & Self-Pay

Safe Haven Counseling operates as a self-pay practice. Payment is accepted through cash, credit, check, FSA, or HSA.

Superbills are available upon request and may be submitted to your insurance provider if your plan offers out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies by plan.
Why Choose Private Pay for Therapy
When it comes to your child’s emotional and developmental health, many families value flexibility, privacy, and individualized care.

Private pay allows therapy to be guided by your child’s needs — not insurance limitations.
Benefits of private pay therapy include:
1. Privacy and Confidentiality
Insurance often requires a formal diagnosis and ongoing treatment documentation. Private pay allows us to focus on your child’s experiences and needs without assigning unnecessary labels or creating permanent medical records.
2. No Insurance Restrictions
Insurance plans may limit the number of sessions, require pre-authorizations, or restrict treatment approaches. Private pay allows therapy to proceed at a pace and frequency that is clinically appropriate.
3. Individualized, Child-Centered Care
Treatment is tailored to your child and family, rather than shaped by standardized codes, time limits, or external requirements.
4. Flexibility in Therapeutic Focus
Therapy can support emotional development, relationship building, and long-term growth — not just symptom reduction.
Financial Commitment & Consistency
Because therapy is a process that unfolds over time, families are encouraged to consider the emotional and financial commitment involved. Consistent attendance and collaboration support the best outcomes.
Insurance Information

If you choose to pursue out-of-network reimbursement, you may contact your insurance provider directly to inquire about benefits, deductibles, and reimbursement policies. Safe Haven Counseling does not bill insurance directly.
Cancellation & No-Show Policy

A scheduled appointment reserves time specifically for you and/or your child.
Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be billed at 50% of the session fee, as this time cannot be billed to insurance.
A credit or debit card will be kept on file for this purpose.
